Japanese sculptor, designer, and pop culture artist Takashi Murakami has announced his plans to set up an animation production studio in Los Angeles. Already with an office Tokyo and New York for scouting and nurturing talent, Murakami, whose work is a frenetic array of anime culture mixed with fleeting commentary, will not transition to the animation realm. The studio will handle commercial and original, independent projects.
