January 2010 saw a few interesting events take place in southern China with regards to local options in pursuit of progress. The first China International Animation Copyright Fair (Dongguan, China) and prior, the Annual Animation Meeting (Hainan island), hope to open up ties among China animation producers, providing the impetus of filling the void left by international rights-holders due to a lackluster global economy.
